Genesis 1:1 - Construction

A humourous, allegorical rendering of "Bereshit" (In the beginning), Genesis 1:1, the first Torah portion, or parsha. A blueprint of the Universe, depicted as a Torah scroll and a yellow construction hardhat, or helmet superimposed on a starry background. The logo of Yesh M'ayn Construction Company," Established in the beginning," appears on the side of the helmet. The text of Genesis 1:1, In the beginning G-d created the heavens and the earth" also appears. Yesh M'ayn (something out of nothing) is the Hebrew equivalent of ex nihilo, Latin meaning "out of nothing." The idea that G-d created the Universe out of nothing, creatio ex nihilo, is a central tenet of Judaism Jews believe that the Torah is the blueprint by which the Universe was made. Everything is contained within it and when G-d made the world He used it as his guide.
