This watercolor is inspired from a yellow joyful marigold flower that was shining in the summer mid day sun. The sky looked like melted gold yet my marigold was still fresh and joyful. Marigolds may be the birth month flower of October. This cheerful flower has a lot of meanings. Early Christians had a tradition of placing flowers on Mary’s altar as an offering instead of coins. Marigolds are often used in festivities honouring Mary, even today. The Victorians related these blooms to a desire for riches, as many legends, such as the one above, compared the marigold to Mary’s gold (they do kind of look like coins!). I wanted a tapestry fabric to drape over a large table. Real tapestry fabric and tapestries are VERY expensive. For a 140.00 investment I achieved the look very nicely. Actually looks better in person.
The tablecloth also came much earlier than I had expected. I had to blow up the pattern to fit a larger tablecloth and was concerned about the registration. It turned out quite well. Kind of pattern that adapts well.

I really love this!! I have to admit I was nervous as I read reviews after I had bought this and many said their items arrived with the print blurry or flawed in some way and many had reported that it was near impossible to return the item. So I thought I had made a huge mistake but my table cloth was in mint condition with the images clear and crisp.
