A giant lizard was freed by an underwater earthquake and attacked an Irish fishing village. The crew of a nearby salvage ship came to battle the creature, which it captured and took to London to put on display. They named the beast Gorgo and started making a great deal of money off the beast ... until Gorgo's much larger mother appeared to attack the city and free her young! The two beasts escaped back into the sea, but Gorgo developed curiosity about the land, so he returned multiple times, encountering other giant monsters, would-be despots, and even aliens!
