葛飾北斎(葛飾 北齋 、かつしか ほくさい。宝暦10年9月23日?〈1760年10月31日?〉 - 嘉永2年4月18日〈1849年5月10日〉)は、日本の近世にあたる江戸時代に活躍した浮世絵師であり、とりわけ後期、文化・文政の頃(化政文化)を代表する一人。
代表作に『富嶽三十六景』や『北斎漫画』があり、世界的にも著名な画家である。

Katsushika Hokusai (October or November 1760–May 10, 1849) was a Japanese artist, ukiyo-e painter and printmaker of the Edo period. In his time, he was Japan's leading expert on Chinese painting. Born in Edo (now Tokyo), Hokusai is best-known as author of the woodblock print seriesThirty-six Views of Mount Fuji which includes the iconic and internationally recognised print, The Great Wave off Kanagawa, created during the 1820s.
