If you've strolled along the River Liffey in Dublin, Ireland, there's a very good chance you took a moment to cross the river using the old Liffey Bridge, better known to most as the Ha'penny Bridge. The oldest iron bridge in Ireland earned its nickname because it was for a long time a toll bridge. And yes, it once cost a half penny to cross the Liffey. Even before I read the history, I was captured by it's elegant beauty. I love how it arches across the river, don't you? So graceful! Even if you've never stood there, there's an architectural beauty and old world charm to this little slice of life in the heart of the Irish capital city, Dublin.
