The enormous wave is threatening the boats. This wonderful Japanese wave is called The Great Wave off Kanagawa from 36 Views of Mount Fuji. This wave is often referred to as a tsunami, but the great wave could also be an okinami, or a large wave in the open ocean. Also called Under a Wave off Kanagawa or just "The Wave", this is a famous woodblock print by Japanese artist Hokusai. The print was originally published between 1830 and 1833.
