Green Celtic Cross with Triskele Engraving Postcard

Green Celtic Cross with Triskele Engraving Postcard

Celtic cross is one of hundreds of possible cross designs and variations. As the name implies its distinctive shape of a cross combined with a ring is primarily connected with the Celts and their feel for the intricate design. This version by LjGroupArt also sports on the cross arms three interconnected spirals, known as triskele or triskelion, a potent Celtic pre-Christian symbol . This version has all the cross arms of equal length, which is convenient for accessorising. In Irish this cross is called cros cheilteach (as cross is a feminine noun in Irish, it is pronounced cross heltchuh or cross hetltchukh) and throughout the early Middle Ages alone standing stone variants of it, highly decorated and carved, were erected throughout Ireland and parts of Great Britain, known as high crosses (cros ard in Irish). During the 19th Celtic revival inspired by early mediaeval insular art, these kind of crosses regained in popularity and usage. Celtic cross is one of the symbols of Ireland today and is closely connected with Saint Patrick’s Day, Patron Saint of Ireland. Scottish people, especially in the Highlands of Scotland, keep this symbol in high regard.

Paper weight was great. Perfect for long distance mailing; very durable. Prompt arrival. Exceeded my expectations. The design was the best. The vivid green alligator was exactly what I was looking for - so many others looked bland in comparison. The beer froth was perfect.

Beautiful card suitable for framing, ordered postcard, could actually have used a little larger, but perfect for collage grouping. Very nice, again, could be a bit larger, but the postcard size and quality is good for collage of heritage grouping.
