This Realism, history painting titled, The burning of Archpriest Avvakum was made by Grigoriy Myasoyedov in 1897 while at Russian Federation. Myasoyedov attended the Saint Petersburg Academy of Arts in 1853-63. He visited France, Germany, Spain and Italy, but originally lived in Saint Petersburg. His last days Myasoyedov spent in his manor Pavlenki at Poltava.
