Carbon dating has proven that wild roses were around more than 35 million years ago. According to ancient Hindu writings, the goddess, Lakshmi, was created from the petals of 108 large and 1,008 small roses. It is said that roses, in the Garden of Eden, were thornless and it was only after Adam and Eve were expelled that the thorns appeared.
