This is the radiant and sensual painting, “The Kiss,” created by the Austrian painter Gustav Klimt. It’s considered to be his most famous work. He painted it between the years 1907 and 1908, which were the highpoint of his “Golden Period,” when he painted a number of works utilising gold leaf. Austria considers “The Kiss” a national treasure. In 2003, Austria released a commemorative 100 Euro coin that had an etching of “The Kiss” on one side, and a portrait of Klimt at work in his studio on the other.
