About This Design

Gustav Klimt - The Park Tile

The Park, painted around 1909-1910 in oil on canvas by Austrian Symbolist Gustav Klimt. A dense canopy of leaves fills almost the entire square picture, while trunks and a narrow strip of ground survive only along the lower edge. Klimt used a square viewfinder to isolate landscape motifs, and here the close crop turns foliage into an almost abstract mosaic of tiny brushstrokes. The limited depth and all-over pattern push the landscape towards abstraction while remaining rooted in the direct observation of trees and light.

My fiancé and I were happy when we received the tile. It’s Peru and was worth paying extra for expressing postage. Good quality and it is exactly like we wanted it. We are very pleased.
