ADINKRA SYMBOLS The Akan people of Ghana and Côte d'Ivoire designed the Adinkra symbols in the early 1700s. Most Adinkra symbols employ radial or reflecting symmetry to convey profoundly symbolic proverbs about life, death, wisdom, and human attitude.
