Halicarnassus Mausoleum Turkey Postcard

The Mausoleum at Halicarnassus, located in modern-day Bodrum, Turkey, was a monumental tomb built for Mausolus, a satrap in the Persian Empire, and his sister-wife Artemisia II. Considered one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, this magnificent structure, completed around 350 BC, stood on a hill overlooking the city. Its architectural grandeur, combining Greek, Egyptian, and Lycian styles, featured a stepped pyramid roof topped by a chariot statue. While largely destroyed by earthquakes over centuries, the mausoleum's legacy as a masterpiece of ancient architecture endures.
