HARD ROCK! Carbon atoms. Bundles of energy composed of 6 Protons, 6 Neutrons and 6 electrons. Forged deep in the crucible of the Earth’s crust under extreme heat (2200º Farenheit) and pressure (750 thousand pounds per square inch), carbon atoms strong covalent bonds can form crystal diamonds. Gem quality diamonds are about 99.95% carbon and are the hardest natural substance on earth.
