Harvestman Daddy Longlegs Note Card

Harvestmen (Daddy Longlegs) are not true spiders, but they do have eight legs and are recognised by kids everywhere. They have only two eyes (unlike spiders) and their body isn't divided into segments. They eat bugs and give off a stinky odour as protection against predators. The legs serve as sensory organs (taste, smell, etc.). Males have smaller bodies and very long legs like this one, and females have bigger bodies and shorter legs. There are over a hundred species in North America, none of them are venomous and all are completely harmless! Fossils of harvestmen have been found from about 170 million years ago. Although they are not spiders, I'm categorising them that way for Zazzle as most people think of them that way and Zazzle put them there.
