The dugong (Dugong dugon) is a mammal classified under the order Sirenia and the family Dugongidae. It is the only living species in the genus Dugong and the family Dugongidae. They are found as far north as Japan (Okinawa Islands)[1] and as far south as Australia (around 30 degrees south latitude).[2] Although they were once widely distributed from the east coast of Africa to the East China Sea and around Australia, as of 2007, they are said to be found only in limited waters among these areas. It is believed that they also inhabited the Mediterranean Sea before the Common Era. I want to protect the Henoko sea in Okinawa!
