Herring Gull Resting on Rock Jetty:

While walking on the rocks at the south jetty in Barnegat Light we came across this wild herring gull, resting on a greyish rock and basking in the warm summer sun. This adult seagull has a white head with grey back, grey wings and white tail. White spots on black wing tips are visible. Individual wing feathers can be seen in this close up photo. Calm blue waters of the Atlantic Ocean can be seen in the background. This scenic colour photograph by DeborahLynne, using a digital camera, was taken while visiting Barnegat Lighthouse State Park at the Jersey Shore and is located at the north end of Long Beach Island in Ocean County, New Jersey. This is a perfect spot to go bird watching for the avid birder.
