Holland Park Design (by William Morris) Guest Book

This design features a high-quality photographic image of an original carpet designed by William Morris (1834–1896) for a property in Holland Park, London. Morris was a lifelong admirer and collector of fine historical carpets from various regions of the Eastern hemisphere. He had a particularly deep appreciation for and wide knowledge of Persian, Turkish and Chinese methods of carpet-making. The Holland Park carpet was woven at Merton Abbey in 1883, and it was made for Alexander Constantine Ionides (1810–1890), who was a British art collector and patron of Greek ancestry. Many of the individual elements and motifs in this carpet's design can also be seen in the wallpaper, paintings and textiles that Morris also made. The timeless artistry of William Morris can be appreciated today in this attractive and elegant design.
