Hop Flowers Postcard

This design is from my original painting of hops on the vine. Hop flowers have been used for centuries in the brewing of beer, and have generally been more appreciated for their flavour, aroma and preservative effect than for their aesthetic beauty. I think that's a bit of a shame, since the flowers have such elegant symmetry, and their spring green colour is so beautifully refreshing. Whether you love beer, brewing, beauty, or all of the above, the hops vine makes for a striking botanical piece, and this one was a joy to create.
