Horace Greeley T-shirt
Greeley was deeply interested in Socialist and feminist ideals. Greeley edited the pro-Whig journal "Log Cabin". At the demise of the Whig party, he went on to support the "Free Soil" party. He was very much anti-slavery. In 1856, he helped with the founding of the Republican Party. In 1872, he ran as a candidate against Ulysses S. Grant, losing by a landslide.
