Georges Seurat was a French Post-Impressionist painter most known for his "pointillist" paintings where he used tiny dots of colour that would blend into a solid field when viewed from a distance. He was influenced by science emerging at the time. Studies of how the eye sees colour. Seurat's works were understandably labour intensive and often took years to create.
