This is "Hummingbird and Apple Blossom" painted in 1875 by Martin Johnson Heade. This is a night time scene, the moon is glowing through clouds. My mother saw this in a collective of his works on exhibit at the L A County Museum. This little fellow, the Ruby Throated, is the only species of hummingbird that migrates from South America. All the others stay.
