On a hot summer night, a mysterious boy—or perhaps a snail's spirit—carries a seashell on his back and silently raises his spear. His target is a phantom butterfly that beautifully colours the dark night. The vivid purple stardust spreading like the Milky Way and the monochrome contrast expressed through meticulous pointillism and line drawing instantly draw the viewer to "somewhere else." A quiet horror element of "hunting" lurks within the boy's fresh demeanour. This illustration combines a serene terror reminiscent of Japanese ghost stories and folk tales with breathtaking beauty.
