It is printed behind the clear veneer so the design will not be damaged. Whereas it appears 3D, it is flat. Still looks as cool as how you see it, but just saying. I got it for her because her zodiac is Scorpio, and she is all into that (tattoo and all). Plus, you can customize it with text anywhere in any format or color. Nice touch. I put her name on it above the scorpion. Also, snaps right onto iPod Touch 5G PERFECTLY. It is a great product.
