An inuksuk is a manmade stone landmark used by the Inuit, Iñupiat, Kalaallit, Yupik, and other peoples of the Arctic region of North America. They may have been used for navigation, marking a food cache, places of veneration etc. The word inuksuk means "that which acts in the capacity of a human". It is pronounced "inutsuk" in Nunavut.
