Island of Love (by Konstantin Somov) Coffee Mug

This design features a painting by the Russian artist Konstantin Andreyevich Somov (1869–1939), who lived and worked in Paris, France. It depicts two elegant and fashionable ladies standing on an island in the middle of a boating lake. Both ladies are wearing stylish green dresses, which matches the surrounding greenery of trees, shrubbery and plants. The women are standing under a wooden pergola, which is painted a blueish shade of green. There are also statues of cupid-like figures further away from the women. The island is clearly a romantic retreat for wealthy nobles who want to enjoy the pleasures of love in an environment of nature. The original artwork was painted by Konstantin Somov in 1900.
