IST MINNESOTA MONUMENT POSTCARD
Monument to the 1st Minnesota. On July 2, 1863 General Hancock saw the Confederates about to break the Union line and sent in the 1st Minnesota to stop their advance until he could find reinforcements. Of the 262 men who began their charge only 47 remained who were not killed or wounded. The monument is located on Hancock Avenue just south of the Pennsylvania Monument.
