Dutch Harbour, Alaska used to be famous for vehicles in various states of disrepair called, "Dutch Rigs". There are a still a few Dutch Rigs on the island, but they are slowly being replaced by newer cars and time will tell if a new generation of Dutch Rigs appear in the community or if the junkyard will be overwhelmed with castoffs from a community that is losing its frontier ways and ingenuity. But even if they become a thing of the past, a whole book could be written about "Dutch Rigs".
