Jane Austen Mr Darcy Pride and Prejudice Courage Card

This card of encouragement card has a customisable inscription which can be changed to say whatever you wish. Great for a friend who may be facing some challenges ahead. One of the best scenes in Pride and Prejudice is when Elizabeth is playing the piano at Lady Catherine's. Mr. Darcy walks over, with his usual stern look. Playfully Elizabeth says "You mean to frighten me, Mr. Darcy, by coming in all this state to hear me? But I will not be alarmed though your sister does play so well. There is a stubbornness about me that never can bear to be frightened at the will of others. My courage always rises with every attempt to intimidate me.'' It is this wittiness and cheek that Mr. Darcy learns to love in Elizabeth. The illustration is from a 1907 version by illustrator CE Brock. The facing illustration from the same book depicts Lady Catherine's ill guided attempt to separate Darcy and Elizabeth, which in fact actually succeeds in bringing them together.
