John Maclean T-Shirt

This tshirt design features an Image from a Russian stamp commemorating the great Scottish revolutionary socialist John Maclean (1879 – 1923). Born in Pollokshaws, Glasgow, the former schoolteacher fought long and hard for the rights of the common man, ending up in prison for his beliefs. He was elected to the chair of the Third All-Russian Congress of Soviets in 1918 when he was made Bolshevik consul in Scotland. He founded the Scottish Workers Republican Party and supported Scottish independence. His health was broken in prison and he died aged 44. Loved by the people, over 20,000 lined the streets at his funeral.
