Kaga Umebachi A Metal Lunch Box

The plum crest. This is based on the design in 'Nihon Monshogaku' by Numata Raisuke, and also refers to the method of drawing umebachi in 'Manji no Maryoku, Tomoe no Juryoku' by Awazaka Tsumao (starting from dividing the circle into ten parts according to the mon allocation method). It was drawn with consideration for unity as part of the Kaga Maeda family's umebachi series (2013/6/21). Toshitsune, the third lord of the Kaga domain, was the son of Liie (first lord) and his concubine, Chiyo, because the second lord, Toshinaga, had no children and his wife was Tama-hime, the daughter of the second shogun, Hidetada. Toshitsune added a small sword to the center of the umebachi, creating the 'Ken Umebachi' crest, which became the crest of the Maeda family's main line, and was established as the official crest during the time of the fifth lord, Tsunanori.
