Kano Masanobu - Appreciating Lotuses Key Ring

This is a 15th century colour print by Japanese artist Kano Masanobu. In it he depics a chinese sage Zhou Maoshu getting ferried on a canoe across a river. The wise sage takes his time to enjoy the lotus flowers on the river. They've only just started crossing the river, we can see they're still under the shade of the willow like tree. The colours used are very mellow, different shades of green, brown and grey were used.
