Koryo Museum North Korea Postcard

The Koryo Museum is housed within the historic Sungkyunkwan Academy, a premier educational institution of the Koryo Dynasty founded in 992 AD. Located in Kaesong, the museum complex preserves the elegant, low-slung traditional Korean architecture of the era, chraacterised by classic tiled roofs, wooden pavilions, and tranquil courtyard gardens. The ancient structures are framed by centuries-old gingko and zelkova trees, which paint the grounds with brilliant colours across the changing seasons. Inside, the museum curates a vast collection of cultural relics, celadon pottery, and historical artefacts that showcase the scientific, artistic, and societal achievements of the Koryo Kingdom. As part of the Historic Monuments and Sites in Kaesong, it stands as a celebrated UNESCO World Heritage site, offering a rare and preserved glimpse into Korea's mediaeval scholarly heritage and architectural genius.
