The image is superimposed on a background depicting the dark polar winter. Inuktitut text reading "Kuvianak Innovia" (ᑯᕕᐊᓇᒃ+ᐃᓄᕕᐊ - Merry Christmas), in the syllabic alphabet adopted in Nunavut, also appears in glowing blue and white. The Inuit are commonly referred to as Eskimo, but that term is now disfavored as it is considered to be pejorative.
