I didn't realize the hands were on the outside when I bought it, but as a teaching clock this is much more convenient since we can move the hands manually. The second hand arrives separately so you can teach hours and minutes without it getting in the way. We did run into an issue with the second hand getting stuck on the minute hand so we had to straighten it out before we could use it. It's been keeping perfect time since for over a month. The colors and printing are as bright as they are on the laptop and phone!
