Liberty Enlightening the World Lazarus Poem Postcard

Liberty Enlightening the World Lazarus Poem The New Colossus ... 11-02-1883 ... Emma Lazarus ... 1849 - 1887 Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame, With conquering limbs astride from land to land; Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name Mother of Exiles. From her beacon-hand Glows world-wide welcome; her mild eyes command The air-bridged harbour that twin cities frame. "Keep, ancient lands, your storied pomp!" cries she With silent lips. "Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!" " Neo-classic sculpture by Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi (2 August 1834 – 4 October 1904). The statue was dedicated on October 28, 1886. This Emma Lazarus poem assumes the Statue of Liberty will be a beacon of hope welcoming immigrants from all over the World to the United States of America. Copies of this poem are there with the Statue of Liberty as well as in the guest centre for all to read. At her feet are the broken chains of slavery.

Such a huge range of different frogs available, which made my choices very difficult and now the reason I have a whole draw full of cards and postcards! Much better quality than you can buy in the shops and they are exactly on the subject I love and adore too.
