Loket Castle Czech Republic Postcard
Loket Castle is a historic mediaeval fortress perched dramatically on a rocky bend of the Ohře River in western Czech Republic. Often referred to as the "stone lock" of Bohemia, it dates back to the 12th century and once served as a royal stronghold guarding important trade routes.
Today, the castle is a well-preserved cultural landmark featuring Romanesque and Gothic architecture, exhibitions on regional history, and sweeping views of the surrounding forested hills and river valley. Its striking silhouette and riverside setting make it one of the most picturesque castles in the country.
