The M4 Sherman, officially the Medium Tank, M4, was the primary battle tank used by the United States and the other Western Allies in World War II. M4A3E2 Sherman Jumbo variant had very thick armour for the glacis plate, and the 75 mm gun in a new, heavier T23-style turret, in order to assault fortifications.
