Mabie Todd Swan Visofil Pen Collection Mug

A collection spanning the three types of Mabie Todd Swan Visofil and Blackbird Sacless “Top Filler” ink visible barrel, plunger fill fountain pens made from 1935 through 1940. First are ten Mabie Todd Swan Visofil V Series fountain pens from 1935-1936, noted for their colourful marbled celluloid cap and barrel materials and unique filling system. The Visofil V Series is a cleverly designed ink sac pen with a clear plunger providing a view to the ink level. Next are the four Mabie Todd Swan Visofil VT Series fountain pens made from 1937-1942 and prized for their striking celluloid cap and barrel materials and unique filling system. The VT, while appearing similar to a Parker Vacumatic, operates without a blind cap, as the plunger retracts by unscrewing from the base of the barrel. Finally, are the three Mabie Todd Blackbird BT200 "Top Filler" fountain pens made from 1937-1940 in a choice of beautiful blue and green hatched and solid black celluloid and equipped with their own unique plunger filling system. “Top filling” indicates the barrel end is the “top” of the pen when the pen is inverted for filling. The pen has a plunger that is accessed by removing the barrel end cap and when the nib is in ink is pressed repeatedly to fill the visible ink chamber in the barrel.
