Madonna Mit Dem Jesusknaben (Madonna With The Baby Jesus) c1916 by Hans Zatzka (1859 - 1945); also known as P. Ronsard, Pierre de Ronsard, or H. Zabateri and he signed many of his works as Joseph Bernard, J. Bernard, or Bernard Zatzk to avoid the penalties of braking contracts that limited how many works he could sell. This is a beautiful turn of the century portrait of the Mary and the Baby Jesus standing in a beautiful heavenly garden of roses that are white, yellow, pink, pink and white as well as red. The is a comforting mist of clouds that transition from blue to green to pink; that highlight the yellow halos that are behind the heads of both Mary and Jesus. Mary is wearing a kerchief that is purple on the under side and off gold in colour on the top side with green and gold stripes through out. She is dressed in a red gown that has a white under blouse, gold trim material with silver buttons along the collar and a similar golden sash on the upper portion of her left sleeve. Off of her right shoulder is an emerald green cloth and she is carrying Jesus in a sitting position on a large white silk sheet; and off to her left in the corner is a collection daisies.
