Makushin Mountains on a Sunny Winter Day Postcard

The Makushin Mountains form the western border of Unalaska Bay on Unalaska Island. The mountain range was formed by volcanoes and the cone on the north end of the range is inactive. In the centre of the range is an active volcano, Mount Makushin. This photo was taken from the beach in Dutch Harbour, Alaska, which is located on Amaknak Island. Amaknak is a much smaller island in the bay of Unalaska.
