I had hiked several miles into the Sierra Nevada Mountains and camped for the night. I awoke at sunrise and saw this marmot welcoming the sun only a few feet away. He seemed to be fixated as I slipped out of my sleeping bag and reached for my camera. I have a feeling that he stood on that boulder and greeted the sun each morning as it rose above the neighbouring peaks. - Wayne Green
