Maru ni mitsukashiwa hoodie

Maru ni mitsukashiwa (three oak leaves in a circle). This design is based on the 'three oak leaves split' in 'Heian Monkan' and other sources (drawn on 2013/4/6). In ancient times, oak leaves were used as plates to serve food. Ancient cooks were called 'kashiwa-de', and the 'kashiwa' from 'kashiwa-de' was used to name the oak tree. The 'hagami no kami' (leaf guardian deity) is said to reside in the oak tree, and Shinto priests who use oak leaves in rituals use the oak crest. Oak patterns are often seen in clothing depicted in picture scrolls from the Fujiwara period (compiled by Ito Kosaku, 'Japanese Crests').
