This is a very powerful combination of two related ancient Maya artworks. One is the outer circle of entwined feathered serpents which represent the ongoing mortal battle between opposing forces. Inside the ring of snakes -- where the ball game ring scoring hole would be -- I've placed the design painted onto the ball itself. Yes, it's a detailed skull or death's head and demonstrates how serious the Maya were about their sports!
