Mechanic Frank Ruman in Race Car #7 Card

Mechanic Frank Ruman in Race Car #7 Card

Mechanic Frank Ruman in Race Car #7 From Frank Ruman Racing Photo Collection, 1914, New York LgN Productions © 2024 All Rights Reserved As shown in the photograph on the front, the Bronx in the 1910s and 1920s was a cornerstone of early motorsports, with its mechanics and garages driving innovation in racing. These skilled craftsmen transformed standard vehicles into competitive machines, pioneering techniques that pushed the boundaries of speed and durability. Their work not only supported local racing but also laid the technical foundation for the development of specialised racing cars, influencing the evolution of the sport on a national scale. From the Frank Ruman Racing Photo Collection (1914). Frank (Franciseu) Andrew Ruman (b. 1896, Austro-Hungarian Empire, today: Slovakia) emigrated to America with his family in 1901, became a naturalised citizen in 1934. While living in Idaho in 1955, he invented a groundbreaking diesel fuel injector cleaning process that eliminated the need for replacement of fouled injectors, transforming the industry and drawing big rigs and semi-trucks nationwide to his shop. As a skilled civilian diesel engineer contractor for the U.S. military from the 1940s to 1960s, he also travelled the world, establishing diesel repair shops, manufacturing the tools, training local technicians, and advancing diesel engineering on a global scale.
