Mexico Flag, Bandera de Mexican Republic Silver Plated Banner Ornament
The History and Meaning of the Mexican Flag, The Mexican flag, with its vibrant colours and distinctive symbols, holds deep historical and cultural significance for the Mexican people. The current design of the flag, featuring a golden eagle perched on a prickly pear cactus devouring a serpent, has been in use since 1968. However, the flag's history dates back to the early 19th century, when Mexico gained independence from Spain. - Early History, The first Mexican flag, adopted in 1821, was influenced by the tricolor flag of France. It featured three vertical bands of green, white, and red, with the coat of arms of the Mexican Empire in the centre. The green band represented independence, the white band represented purity, and the red band represented unity. The coat of arms featured an eagle perched on a cactus, devouring a serpent, with a laurel wreath surrounding it. - The Older Seal, The older version of the Mexican seal, which was used on the flag from 1821 to 1968, featured a more detailed and elaborate design. The eagle was depicted with its wings spread wide, and the serpent was shown writhing in its beak. The eagle was also perched on a different type of cactus, known as an nopal. The laurel wreath was also more prominent in the older seal, and it contained 10 stars, representing the 10 states that made up the Mexican Republic at the time. -
Meaning of the Older Seal, The older version of the Mexican seal had a rich symbolism. The eagle represented power and strength, while the serpent represented evil and sin. The eagle's act of devouring the serpent symbolised the triumph of good over evil. The cactus, or nopal, was a sacred plant to the Aztecs, and it represented the land of Mexico. The laurel wreath symbolised victory and honour. - Colours and Meaning, The colours of the Mexican flag also have significant meaning. Green represents hope, white represents purity, and red represents the blood shed by Mexican heroes in the fight for independence. - The Mexican flag is a powerful symbol of national identity and pride. It represents the country's rich history, culture, and values. - The flag and it's colours are in public Domain.

This is a fabulous ornament to have made for that special person in your life. I made mine with a picture of my mom and sister and gave them as Christmas gifts. They both loved them and we all now have the matching ornaments. I would highly recommend! Clear and crisp printing!
