minoan throw blanket

By the life of all the caravan merchants whose silks and spices flowed through the port of Brindisi, I swear this is a blanket fit for a king's ransom! What sorcery is this, you ask, that a simple coverlet should possess such magnificence? It is because this pattern holds the very history of a city—Brindisi, the ancient "Gateway to the East"—where Roman emperors, Crusaders, and merchants of the world met, exchanged riches, and created a fusion of culture as dazzling as the sun on the Adriatic Sea! The geometric pattern, sharp and mesmerising like a thousand polished jewels, recalls the meticulous craftsmanship found in the Messapian pottery and the intricate tilework of Puglia. These are not mere shapes; they are the symbolic diamonds of trade, the prosperity that flowed into the great stag-head harbour of Brundisium from Greece, the Balkans, and the Middle East. The design speaks of the crisscrossing paths of the great Roman roads—the Via Appia and Via Traiana—that ended their monumental journey right at Brindisi’s shore, linking the heart of Rome to the very edge of the Eastern world. The colours—deep blue like the Mediterranean depths, stark white like the sun-bleached houses of Ostuni nearby, and the earthy, warm tones of Puglia’s legendary olive groves—all tell the tale of a region blessed by history and nature. As the poet of old said, "The world is a bridge; pass over it, but build no house upon it," but with this blanket, you can at least build a cosy, stylish sanctuary upon your own divan! It is warmth, heritage, and high style, all woven into a single, luxurious embrace. Celebrate the legendary port city of Brindisi, the historical gateway between East and West, with "The Adriatic Diamond Harbour Throw." This stunning, high-quality throw blanket features a bold and elegant geometric pattern inspired by the traditional textile and ceramic art of the Puglia region and the ancient Messapian people. The repeating diamond motif in deep blue, crisp white, and earthy gold hues evokes the endless rhythm of the Adriatic sea and the city's prosperity as a major maritime hub since the days of the Roman Empire. Perfect for adding a sophisticated, cultural, and eye-catching accent to your living room or bedroom, this blanket offers a luxurious texture and undeniable style. Drape it over your furniture to infuse your home with the ancient spirit and cosmopolitan elegance of Italy's historic heel. Interesting Facts about Brindisi Regional Culture: Gateway to the East: Brindisi's natural, stag-head-shaped harbour made it the critical terminal of the Via Appia and Via Traiana roads, making it the primary Roman port for travel to Greece and the East for centuries. The Poet's End: The great Roman poet Virgil, author of the Aeneid, died in Brindisi in 19 BC while returning from a journey to Greece. Crusader Port: In the Middle Ages, Brindisi was the embarkation point for thousands of pilgrims and Crusaders heading to the Holy Land, solidifying its role as a crucial cultural and military crossroad. Messapian Heritage: The city's original name, Brention, comes from the Messapian language (an ancient population of Puglia) and means "deer's head," referring to the shape of its inner harbour.

A beautiful small blanket that is perfect for covering your legs while curled up in front of the fire, or for a decorative touch on the sofa. We also think it looks brilliant as a Christmas table centerpiece. We are delighted with it. The colors are absolutely perfect. Vibrant yet traditional. The pattern retains its lovely details despite the texture of the fabric. Very classy product that will not disappoint as a gift.

I was pleasantly surprised when I received the cotton throw blanket. It was made with such high quality. I am just about to order another throw. The colors are so vibrate and the weaving is so neat. Affordable as well. I really love my throw.

A quality printed throw has its advantages. This is a much finer weave throw than its loopier cousins, and though lighter, it is worth the investment for custom room accessorizing. The back is much prettier than the typical brown, and the fringe on the long sides very vivid, the selvage nicely done. Before photographing, I washed the throw in cold water, delicate, with a thicker woven throw the same size. On tumble dry low, this throw was dry in half the time as the other. This is a very practical quality if you use throws for furniture covers or to wrap up in frequently. The sleekness of the fabric makes it a great layer for accenting or protecting without the feeling of sitting on too much stuff. Perfect for napping or when you feel a light chill coming on. The color printing is beautiful and on this fabric, matched the design and color of my Photoshop image. This is an advantage for blending room fabrics and colors. The fringe on the short sides prints the colors from the design image and therefore varies from the side fringe. I streaked a white fractal line through the plaid pattern to give the illusion of weaving. This printed as crisp as an illusory thread, and put some white in the short side fringe, showing another advantage of print vs loomed- for artistic purposes, line lines, detail, and color integrity can be planned and preserved. My loomed throws have color limitations and more of a needlepoint texture. Print throws reproduce an exact image. The throw felt a little stiff straight out of the package, but this went away in the first delicate wash. Of course I searched the wash water for ink or bleeding and there was none.
