Words on back: In 480 B.C. King Leonidas and his 300 Spartans stood their ground for three days against the overwhelming Persian horde in defence of their Greek homeland and way of life. When King Xerxes sent an envoy to demand the Spartans lay down their arms Leonidas uttered the defiant words, "MOLON LABE", or "Come And Get Them". King Leonidas and his brave Spartans died in the mountain gap of Thermopylae, but his legendary words and the heroic deeds of all the Spartans inspired the Greeks to rally and eventually defeat the Persians at Salamia and Plataea. Those words still inspire us today and give us strength to defy tyrants who would demand our weapons, our means of self defence, and our control of our destinies as FREE MEN.. MOLON LABE!
