Monet Lilac Irises tile. Oil painting on canvas from 1917. Monet painted irises throughout his career, this is one of his final iris paintings and certainly one of his most haunting. The work is heavily impressionistic and the dark purple irises almost seem to be floating in water above their dark green foliage, the sky above is soft blue and purple.
