Moonshot #5 poster
This image originated from a photo taken of the moon on one of the nights following the wake of Hurricane Ike in Houston, TX... The days that followed the hurricane we were blessed with a lovely cool-front which was a relief to everyone coping with loss of electricity and we were also blessed with a beautiful full moon on one of the nights immediately following the hurricane... I took this photo of the moon on that evening as I looked out of the window of the room at my sister-in-law's house where my partner, our 8-month old twins, two labs, and two cats were camping out (and enjoying their A/C) -- the stillness of the night outside, coolness in the air (inside and out), and beauty of the moon made added a bit of calmness to the craziness of the moments/days/weeks before life returned to normal... This body of work explores the marks, features, and shapes of nature that catch my eye. Throughout my life, in every place I have lived and every place that I have travelled, I have been drawn to the marks of the changing of the seasons as well as the unique features and shapes of random natural structures. My reflection and recollections of this has sparked an exploration of my obsession with nature. I see nature and the Earth as a sort of palimpsest. Not a palimpsest of written language, but a palimpsest of a more natural form of communication between animals, plants, and the Earth. The language of nature. This work includes observations of the nature of the changing of seasons as well as the weathering of surfaces as a result of the natural forces of wind, water, and fire. Some pieces in my "Palimpsest of Nature" series provide a more straightforward approach to appreciation of this imagery while other pieces make use of collage and other techniques in order to explore alternative interpretations of meaning. A subset of this collection of work explores these features through abstraction -- through the isolation of specific features or shapes and their manipulation of these features and shapes into nature-inspired abstract images. Another subset of this body of work makes use of collage and layering to create juxtaposition between some of these natural forms and man-made structures and forms.

I originally ordered this print in a larger size but was not pleased with the clarity of it. When I contacted Zazzle, they responded really quickly and were very helpful. I was able to reorder the print in a smaller size and it was shipped to me within a couple of weeks. The print was packaged well to ensure there was no damage during transit (Eco friendly, too!), and I am really pleased with it.
I am so grateful to the customer service team for the professional way they handled my order. I had this printed on matt finish card and I was really pleased with the quality. The colours were rich and the image sharp.
